Photo Friday: Inktober wrap up

Well, Inktober's finished for another year. Unfortunately, I didn't complete all the daily drawings due to migraines and all-day events. I suspected that might happen, as the past few months have been difficult stress and health-wise. So why did I bother?

Inktober provides many benefits to both me - and you, my readers. It pushes me to flex my drawing muscles (they don't get enough time to shine these days) and kicks my visual creative juices in gear. It allows my writing-brain to have a rest before the writing sprints of November's NaNoWriMo.(Though it still bubbles away, often resulting in some ideas to use for future stories.) As an added bonus, I often delve back into my unfinished pile of sewing projects. And this year, it spawned two new t-shirts, now available from my Redbubble store.

It was a pleasure to discover some highly imaginative artwork - some things I had never dreamed of - and meet some new artists in the process.

Here are just a few of my pieces from this year:

I am grateful to get the opportunity to rev up a different part of my 'creative brain'. and really need to find more time to draw. You can find all of my drawings on my Inktober Pinterest page.

Photo Friday: Costuming Catch Up/Inktober

I haven't had time to sew for a long time. This month I've tried to catch up on a few projects. Last week I showed you the beginnings of my new steampunked gun. This week I've been helping my daughter with her latest costume.

And catching up on clothing bits. I've finished an upcycling project for the weekend, creating new 'work' skirt from and old one I would otherwise not wear again. A shorter skirt is now a long skirt, after making a new skirt top and adding the original skirt on the bottom.

More pics to follow after Halloween Con this weekend.

Excellent end to a chaotic week.

Yep, this blog is a few hours late.

I blame the heatwave - and those hateful north winds that carry down dust storms and trigger my allergies. Our air conditioner died Monday, was fixed Wednesday evening. We thought we were safe. Not so. We swealtered through Saturday morning after a local power outage. We celebrated with a D&D session, with friends, when the power was restored.

So what did I do over the week while I was hiding from the heat and north winds? A little writing and sewing - at least when the power was on. Here is my latest steampunk fashion statement - squeezed into almost inadequate amounts of randomly bought material on Spotlight sale. keys back keys front Four days of over forty degrees Celcius - in December! Monday and Tuesday weren't much better - both over mid thirties. A record (since1897). Why can't we break a record like most chocolate consumed over the holidays or largest lightsabre battle?

Instead we joined the throngs to watch the much anticipated Star Wars Episode VII. I enjoyed it. A good balance between action and humour. Enough nods to the old series, for the long-time fans. That's all I'll say - or spoilers, Sweetie!

Have a cool week everyone. Enjoy your Christmas/Holidays.
