Hi, all.
If you’re in Adelaide and love steampunk, don’t forget the Adelaide Steampunk Aetherfest this coming weekend – 17th-18th September.
I’ll be there celebrating my new book Mrs Hudson Investigates, and A Fey Tale (steampunk-adjacent(ish) book published after the last year’s steampunk festival) with an author talk in the workshop room on Saturday (1pm):
A Foot in Both Worlds: The Victorian’s obsession with entertainment, superstition and science –
‘Local steampunk author Karen J Carlisle discusses her books ‘A Fey Tale’, ‘Mrs Hudson Investigates’, and ‘The Illusioneer’ as she delves into the steampunk-adjacent world of Victorian mysteries, entertainment, and illusionists in an era of change and invention.’
I’ve also been asked to participate in the steampunk author panel on Sunday. Joining me will be two aussie authors, Ged Maybury and Lilliana Rose. We’ll be talking books, steampunk, and writing.
I’ll have my books, mugs, tees, badges and new book merch, and a limited number of Viola Stewart book bundles – with bonus giveaways (and an extra bonus Aetherfest exclusive bookplate for those who purchase a book or book bundle). Shout out to artist Joan Stratford who gave me permission to use this year’s event poster.
You can find me near First Aid and Stone Table Books.
